No Luck Club blesses WEFUNK with a half-hour live set packed with body-moving breaks and Latin vibes. Plus a James Brown/Diamond D sample moment sparks off a classic late 80s hip-hop set, with a lil' something from the 1st No Luck Club album thrown in the mix.

WEFUNK gets the lowdown from James Brown's Soul Sister #1, Marva Whitney, during a special half-hour feature. Plus Rawkus is back with their 2nd project Kidz in the Hall, and Static digs up a couple dusty non-LP gems from KMD and Group Home.

Professor Groove gets the soul stew bubbling to a steaming simmer, a journey through jazz and soul steeped funk & hip-hop including gems from Alan Hawkshaw, George Benson, Blaque Spurm and The Kay-Gees.

Groove kicks off with kinetic party beats, then on to lots of fresh new hip-hop from DJ Static. Some dope collabos in the mix (Lupe Fiasco feat. Jill Scott, Diddy feat. Nas & Cee-lo) plus the first cut off the much anticipated "Hi-Teknology 2". On the chillout tip, some funky reggae and a couple delicious instrumentals from the Liparis Nervosa Sextet and the Soul Investigators.

WEFUNK talks to AG, the "giant in the mental" about his new album, the DITC crew and the art of sampling. Funk & soul moments: Lee Michaels gives the Hammond a wailing workout, the Ambassadors provide Pete Rock's soul source, and Roy Ayers & Fela Kuti forge an epic afrofunk take on "2000 Black".

Doujah Raze sets off a triple-dose sample moment with Hairy Diamond and the Ad Libs. Plus more of the rough, rugged & raw funk, and brand new hip-hop from AG (featuring J Dilla), Consequence, and Dan The Automator w/ Hiero.

Static dusts off some Wu joints you forgot (or didn't!), the Prof lays down funk favorites from Roy Ayers, Les McCann and Eddie Henderson, and guest More Or Les gets busy on the decks.

Choice funk from Mandingo, Burton Inc., George Duke and Mr. K (Danny Krivit's cut & paste classic "Rock The House"). Static serves up frenetic beats for the b-boys including DOC's "Lend Me An Ear" (how many classic breaks can you name?), plus brand new Slum Village, Frank N Dank and Jedi Mind Tricks.

East coast hip-hop heavy hitters Pete Rock/CL, Nice & Smooth etc. go head to head with the West coast's illest from Del to da Liks to Saafir. On the funk side we check out beat-heavy disco, Les McCann/Tribe synchronicity and dope tracks from Jack McDuff, Third Rock and the Whitfield-era Temptations.

Shing-a-ling soul and breakneck breakbeats lay ground for 'nuff rough funk. The legendary Pharoahe Monch gets nice on "Push", featuring Tower of Power horns. Plus "woman to woman": Jean Grae rides an original Lyn Collins groove.

DJ Ilya returns with tasty jazz & latin flavored funk and more Afro-Kats advance tracks. Dead Prez, Madvillain, Planet Asia & J Dilla open the show blazin', vintage Method Man meets brand new (from "4:21"), and Static puts a twist on bicoastal with a Pharcyde-Outkast blend.

DJ Static starts slow with sum hednod jams, then Cheeba Cheeba Kid gets the heat risin' with a set of boogie beats and disco edits. Static hooks up some classic Canadian cuts to round out the show.

Party funk and a James Brown/EPMD sample moment spark off a classic early 90s set including BDK, PE, and Heavy D. Later on, fuzz guitars and psych breaks bring on the heavy funk (Boz Skaggs like you've never heard!) and the Roots rock out on their new track "Here I Come".

A load of new hip-hop including Lupe's "I Gotcha", a taste of the upcoming Talib album ("Listen!!!") and Outkast strut their southern soulful thang with "Mighty 'O'". Plus a double double dose of funk funk from Osaka Monaurail, Banda Unaio Black, Undisputed Truth & James Brown.

Willie Henderson, James Brown & Dynamic Concepts bust out raw dancefloor funk, then Groove cools it out with chill funk & soul from War, Steve Davis, and William Bell's Dilated Peoples original. KRS-1 and Ghostface ride beats separated at birth ("Jack of Spades" and "Cherchez la Ghost") and MCs get loose on the classic Canadian posse cut "Northern Touch".

Rhymefest flips the classic Mardi Gras break, Osaka Monaurail reinvents JB's Mind Power, Defari & Kenn Starr premiere brand new tracks, and beats get served up extra raw by the likes of Raekwon, Kenny Dope, the Whatnauts and Marva Whitney.

Scott C dives deep into the soulful sounds -- boogie beats, jazzy hip-hop, steel drums & more.

DJ Skeptik & Professor Groove get the groove kicking with a summertime funk / ill boom bap mix.

Keepin' it fresh with new tracks from J Dilla (off The Shining), Toronto's IRS f/ Nish Raawks, and international flavor from Sweden's Chords. Classic Tribe & Beatnuts get broken down to the beat c/o a Harlem Underground break, along with plenty of early 70s funk rawness to round out the show.

Static kicks it off with classic 80s joints from Stetsa, Crash Crew & Whodini, then guest DJ Ilya gets into the afro/latin funk and treats us to some exclusives from Mtl's Afrokats Records.

Real MCs get live on two classic 90's remixes ("Flava In Ya Ear" + "I Shot Ya"), Primo sets it off once again with Cormega's "Dirty Game", the soul runs thick with slept-on Sly, Soul Saints & Stevie tracks, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins gets crazy with the "Kick In The Door" original.

Classics transformed: Original Concept's trunk-rattling "Knowledge Me" gets touched by Masta Ace & Gang Starr, Carol Cool mutates Diana Ross into reggae-funk, and Biz Markie gets busy with Freddie Scott's soul classic "(You) Got What I Need". Plus new heat from DL Incognito "Live in My Element".

You want it we got it: from that raw shit by Stones Throw's Roc 'C', to mellow groove from Noel Zancanella & Baatin (Slum Village), to pop/lock jams by Fatback and New York Express. Need more? Groove & Static bring 'nuff heat for another CKUT funding drive show, featuring a brand new Wu joint from Ghostface's Fishscale LP, a new Doom collabo with Dabrye, lots of party funk, and freestyle cyphas with Mount Real representatives Buttabeats, Narcicyst and Loes.
